As the Golden Globe Race officials report, Kirsten Neuschäfer has rounded Cape Horn and is leading the race. She took the first position after Simon Curwen reported difficulties with his self-stearing gear. Kirsten also participated in the rescue of her colleague Tapio Lehtinen in the Indian Ocean.
The Golden Globe Race aims to reproduce the original 1968 Golden Globe Race, that is sailing solo in a circumnavigation with limited technological means.
